Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law may also be requested after other proceedings such as a sanctions judgment, but in those other situations, it is up to the trial court’s discretion whether to allow the request.įindings of Fact and Conclusions of Law are crucial to a successful appeal. The request must be filed with the court within twenty days after the judgment is signed, and the request must be served on all other parties in the case. Texas Rules of Civil Procedure Rule 296 allows a party in any case tried in a district or county court without a jury to request that the trial court state in writing its findings of fact and conclusions of law.
